As "a sensually brilliant soprano, with an excellent vocal technique, and round and excitingly high notes…" Irina Simmes is celebrated on the operatic stage for her versatility and talent both as a singer and actor. Irina Simmes` most recent triumph was at the 2022 Tiroler Festspiele Erl where she debuted in the role of Sieglinde (Die Walküre). Summer 2023 she will make another Wagner debut as Gutrune (Götterdämmerung), both staged by Brigitte Fassbaender.

She joined the ensemble at Theater Dortmund from 2018-2021 where she sang several leading roles such as Lisa (Land des Lächelns) and Spontini's Amazily (Fernand Cortez).

In 2018 she debuted as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) at the Theater Bielefeld, where she also captivated the audience in a new production of "La Traviata".

In the season 2017/18 she made her debut at Oper Frankfurt as Konstanze in Christoph Loy’s acclaimed production of "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" under the musical direction of Sebastian Weigle and was invited back to Frankfurt as Gerhilde in Wagner's "Die Walküre".

The soprano was a member of Theater Heidelberg, where she celebrated major successes with numerous Mozart roles including Konstanze in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail", Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte", Gräfin Almaviva in "Le nozze di Figaro", Fiordiligi in "Così fan tutte", and Donna Anna in "Don Giovanni".  She debuted the role of Isolde in the world premiere of Avner Dorman’s "Wahnfried" at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe in January 2017, where she returned in the season 2017/18 for a new production of Mozart’s "Lucio Silla", as a co-production with Théâtre la Monnaie Brüssel. An accomplished artist, performing Laura in Korngold's "Der Ring des Polykrates", Musetta in "La Bohème", Rosalinde in "Die Fledermaus", and Micaëla in "Carmen", it was especially her portrayal of Violetta in "La Traviata" which attracted a great deal of attention.

The German magazine "Die Deutsche Bühne“ dedicated a cover story to her in their February 2015 issue. Irina Simmes’ repertoire also includes new compositions including Jost’s "Rumor", in which she sang the role of Adela, and in the world premiere of Harneit’s "Abends am Fluss", in which she interpreted the leading role of Die Frau.

She completed her formal education with Prof. Rachel Robins at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen (Germany) and was subsequently engaged as a member of the opera studio at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, then continuing her studies with Mr. Suarez-Ribaudo in Munich.
